FN 24/30
Carabine FN model Mauser 24/30 in .22 LR
After the WWII, the National Factory (FN) of Herstal takes again the manufacture of the rifle “Mauser” 24/30 which it exported between the two wars. It makes approximately a thousand of rifles in calibre .22 intended for the drive of the recruits at lower cost.
This weapon is declined under 3 versions:
That which interests us “ABL 52 with royal monogram”.
Without marking with eyepiece of the SAFN, AFN and FAL for the instruction of the militiaman’s and finally for the “Public force” (Belgian Congo) with or without eyepiece.
It will also produce, under this configuration, a thousand of Mauser Israelis to the same calibre.
Punches
The weapon carries the lawful punches of the proofhouse of Liege, namely:
Peron of Liège: Punch of the inspection of the proofhouse (valid of the 16.06.1853 at our days)
Letter under star: countermarks of the controllers post 1877.
Markings
B under crown: royal monogram of Baudouin 1st, king of the Belgians since 1951.
ABL: Belgian army (Belgisch Leger in Dutch)
1952: year of the weapon
997: serial number
